Armored Blox Energy & Boost Economy
Spend EN like a shared resource — not a panic button.
This Energy & Boost guide teaches the resource layer of Armored Blox: how EN, generators, and boost habits decide fights before aim does. Fancy kits from Builds and Assembly still fold when pilots hold boost through entire chases. Read this alongside Combat and Controls so your fingers and your tank stay honest in the 48devs BETA.
Boost economy in one sentence
Boost is AP you spend before you lose AP. Empty tanks create free stagger windows for the enemy duo. Full tanks that never spend create free space for the enemy duo. The skill is pulse spending with a reserved exit.
EN and generator honesty
Your generator is not a fashion slot. It funds:
- Approach boost
- Dodge / QB-style bursts (when available in your control scheme)
- Recovery between pressure cycles
- Sometimes energy weapon upkeep
Honesty checks:
- Can you boost in → burst → boost out on your main kit?
- After a failed commit, do you still have enough EN to peel for your partner?
- Do energy guns leave you grounded mid-reload?
If any answer is no, rebuild generator/legs or delete a drain weapon before grinding Ranked.
The boost-in / burst / boost-out loop
Most clean engages share the same rhythm:
| Phase | EN job | Failure mode |
|---|---|---|
| Boost in | Close or angle with reserve left | Arrive empty and panic |
| Burst | Convert or apply real pressure | Spray forever on a mobile light |
| Boost out | Leave before the second AC punishes | Celebrate in place and die |
| Reset | Recover EN and re-pair | Instant re-dive at 10% |
Drill the loop in casual matches until saying “out” is automatic. Combat roles and stagger windows expand on this loop in Combat.
QB / dodge habits (when your layout has them)
If your platform and layout expose quick boost or dodge-style inputs:
- Pulse — short taps to break missile ribbons and shotgun lines
- Do not ribbon — holding a long boost path is free lead practice for rifles
- Dodge with a plan — sideways or vertical escapes beat panic forward boosts into the second enemy
- Save one charge mindset — treat the last slice of EN as peel insurance
Mobile pilots: bind boost/dodge where thumbs do not fight camera. See Mobile tips and Controls before blaming the generator.
Overheat and empty-tank deaths
Two death types look different but share greed:
Empty-tank deaths
You spent everything on the chase. The remaining enemy walks into your cooldown. Fix: hard rule — no chase below a personal EN floor (many pilots use a mental 20–30% until habits stick).
Overheat / redline deaths
You stayed in the red trying to force a convert. Even if exact overheat UI changes in beta, the lesson stays: redline ego loses more rounds than a patient reset. Fix: call “reset” out loud with your duo and rotate to cover.
After each of these deaths, name it in one word in chat or notes: greed, peel, or drain.
Light vs heavy EN taxes
Weight class changes what EN means:
| Class | EN feels like | Common mistake |
|---|---|---|
| Light | Lifeblood — every pulse matters | Spending all EN to show off movement |
| Mid | Flexible budget | Pretending you are light forever |
| Heavy | Scarce reposition tool | Walking in as if boost is optional |
Lights that empty the tank mid-map are free food. Heavies that never boost become turret practice. Mid kits should practice the same loop until it is boring — then specialize.
Mobile boost mistakes
Touch players lose EN to UI fights as often as to bad decisions:
- Accidental held boost from sticky thumbs
- Camera drags that force corrective boost spam
- Overcrowded layouts where dodge and fire overlap
- Chasing PC YouTube movement tech that needs more buttons than you have
Fixes: simplify the kit, clean the layout, and practice pulse taps in an empty lobby. Details live on Mobile tips.
Partner EN as a shared win condition
In 2v2, your partner’s tank matters:
- Do not both dump EN on separate ego chases
- Peel early if your partner is grounded and dove
- Call “low” when you cannot contest a dive
- Save expendables for a real stagger window, not the first sighting
Ranked mindset and callouts continue on Ranked and the Players Hub.
Drills that actually raise your floor
| Session | Constraint | Success look |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Boost pulses only, minimal shooting | You leave every engage with reserve |
| 2 | No chase below 25% EN | You rotate instead of throw |
| 3 | Peel-first with a friend | You abandon a kill to save the pair |
| 4 | Full loop callouts (in/burst/out/reset) | Both pilots say the phase |
Warm up with short drill blocks before serious queues. Pair with the Loadout checklist so the generator matches the habit you just practiced.
Linking EN to assembly and patches
When a patch buffs a hungry energy weapon or nerfs recovery, your old loop may break overnight. Re-test the boost-in/out cycle after reading Patch Notes, then adjust generator or weapon drain in Assembly. Do not assume last week’s EN feel still applies in BETA.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Armored Blox pilots.
Why do I lose with good aim?
Empty EN removes you from the convert and the peel. Fix the boost-in, burst, boost-out loop before blaming crosshair placement.
What EN percent should I keep in reserve?
Use a personal floor (many pilots start around 20–30%) until pulse habits stick. Never start a hopeful chase at near-empty.
Do light ACs need different boost habits?
Yes. Lights spend EN as lifeblood. Pulse more, ribbon less, and treat the last slice as escape insurance.
How do I stop accidental boost holds on mobile?
Simplify your layout, separate boost from camera drag zones, and practice short taps in a quiet lobby. See Mobile tips for layout habits.
Should both duo partners boost in together?
Often yes for focus fire — but not if it means both arrive empty. Stagger depth so one can still peel.
When should I rebuild my generator?
When you cannot complete the boost loop, after drain-heavy weapon swaps, or when a patch changes recovery. Validate in two casual matches.
